Gannon Beverage Factory Hits Record Production Levels
Bien Hoa City, Vietnam
Gannon Beverages, a beverage and packaging facility in Amata Industrial Estate, Bien Hoa City, achieved record production levels in June 2007. The plant, one of the largest in Indochina, has the capacity to produce 100 million liters of milk, juice, tea, coffee, drinking yogurt and soya a year. According to Walter Blocker, CEO of Gannon Vietnam Limited, this was due to Gannon's strong contracts with international suppliers, including Nestle, Pepsi and Lipton, three of the biggest beverage companies in the world. “This is just the tip of the iceberg for Gannon,” says Blocker. “We expect production levels to continue to increase . . .”
Earlier in the year, Gannon began production for a Pepsi Quaker Oats Soya drink called Body Naturals, which is flavored with oats. Soya beverages are popular in Asia because they are a primary source of protein. Unlike Americans, who get their protein primarily from milk products, Asians don't traditionally consume dairy products. Gannon is uniquely positioned to deliver soya beverages to this promising market-more than a billion people, with a per capital soy consumption of 10 to 15 liters a year. Fortified with vitamins and minerals, Gannon's soya beverages are more consistent in quality and ingredients than traditional homemade soya drinks.
Gannon Beverages, an affiliate of Gannon International, LTD., was established in 2003, with an initial capacity of 25 million liters a year. Through expansions and customer acquisitions, the company has emerged as one of the largest beverage and dairy producers in SE Asia.
