Amen Zwa Joins GTG as Vice President and Director of Engineering

Amen Zwa, a software engineer and designer for more than 20 years, joins Gannon Technologies Group (GTG) as Vice President and Director of Engineering. Mr. Zwa brings a strong background in product development and engineering, and has worked as a software consultant for a number of federal government and commercial organizations. Zwa’s academic credentials include a BS in Electrical Engineering from Catholic University, and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.

Mr. Zwa has been creating and publishing software since his early teens, and has a number of patents to his credit. His research interest is 3-D volumetric information visualization. As a graduate student researcher, he published and co-authored a number of research papers on the subject.

In addition to serving as the lead scientist on a number of image processing efforts, Zwa will be the hands-on technical director for GTG’s engineering activities. He will also serve in an advisory capacity on technology matters related to Gannon’s various business lines, and will assist with administrative tasks such as technical recruitment, engineering staff reviews and project technical oversight.

Mr. Zwa began working for GTG in December 2006 as a consultant imagery scientist. After being an independent consultant for most of his professional career, Zwa needed a very compelling reason to become an employee again. “After a couple of decades in this business, I recognized that these types of opportunities don’t come along often,” says Zwa. “GTG offers a nurturing and stimulating environment that compels one to excel. All of us at Gannon have many years of professional experience, yet each of us is learning daily as we chart new territories of knowledge. It’s almost like being back in graduate school, except for the fact that we’re all rather well fed.”

Zwa became a permanent employee in July 2007. He will be based in GTG’s Tysons Corner offices in McLean, VA. Read Amen Zwa’s biography.
